PostHog Home Screen Widget for iPhone
PostHog doesn't offer native iOS widgets. PocketHog adds home screen widgets that display live PostHog metrics — visitor counts, conversion events, and trend charts — updating every 30 minutes.
What the Widget Shows
- Visitor count — total unique visitors for the current period
- Conversion metric — count of your chosen PostHog event (signups, purchases, activations, etc.)
- Sparkline trend chart — a compact line chart showing the visitor trend over the period
- Project name — clearly labelled so you know which project you're looking at
Widget Sizes
PocketHog supports two widget sizes:
- Small widget — displays visitor count, conversion count, and the project name in a compact square. Ideal for a quick pulse check.
- Medium widget — adds a sparkline trend chart alongside the metrics, giving you a visual sense of direction without opening the app.
How to Set Up
- Install PocketHog from the the App Store ($4.99 one-time).
- Connect your PostHog account — create a Personal API key (starts with
phx_) withproject, query, andevent_definitionread scopes. Paste it into PocketHog and select your region. - Long-press your home screen — tap the + button in the top corner, search for PocketHog, and choose small or medium.
- Select a project — long-press the widget after adding it, tap "Edit Widget," and pick which PostHog project to display.
How Widget Data Refreshes
PocketHog uses iOS background refresh to update widget data approximately every 30 minutes. iOS controls the exact refresh schedule based on your usage patterns — widgets you look at frequently get refreshed more often.
Data is cached locally, so widgets display instantly even when the app isn't running. When you open PocketHog, it fetches the latest data immediately and updates all widgets.
